Breakfast in Bed Croissant Bake

Because effort is romantic. I’m so serious.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be fancy — it just needs to feel thoughtful. And I may not know much but I do know that effort is the greatest gift you can give.

This baked croissant French toast is my go-to when I want to do something special without that doesn’t require hours of work. You can prep it the night before, bake it in the morning, and suddenly you’re the kind of person who plans romantic gestures — even if you absolutely do not identify as that person.

Use whatever berries and jam you like!

Baked Croissant French Toast (Make-Ahead)

Serves: 6–8
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 40–45 minutes
Best feature: You can make it the night before

Ingredients

  • 5–6 large croissants, torn into chunks (day-old is perfect)

  • 6 large eggs

  • 1 cups half-and-half

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for greasing)

  • 3/4 cup of your fav jam

  • 4 oz cream cheese, cut into chunks

Toppings

  • Berries, jam, or chocolate chips

  • Powdered sugar or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9x13 baking dish and add the torn croissants.

  2. Scatter in extras like cream cheese, berries, or jam if using.

  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup (or sugar), vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and melted butter. Do this in a measuring cup for easy pouring.

  4. Pour evenly over the croissants, pressing gently so everything gets soaked.

  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight — or bake right away if you’re hungry now.

  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) uncovered for 40–45 minutes until golden, puffed, and set.

  7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with maple syrup.

Add coffee, candles, maybe some fruit you didn’t cut perfectly, and you’re done. Boom. You’re incredible. I knew it all along. Effort counts. Every time.
